Terms of service
The plain-language rules for using Motherly Hand.
Template — have it reviewed by a lawyer before launch. This is a good-faith starting point, not legal advice.
Last updated: 20 July 2026
Motherly Hand is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition, and nothing in the app is medical advice. Always talk to a qualified pediatrician or healthcare provider about your child's health, and use local emergency services for anything urgent.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms are a contract between you and Motherly Hand for use of the app and this website (together, the "service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2. Who can use Motherly Hand
You must be at least 18 years old and a parent, legal guardian, or an adult caregiver invited by one, to create or use an account. Motherly Hand is a tool for adults to log information about a child in their care — it is not designed to be used directly by a child, and children do not hold accounts of their own.
3. Not a medical device
Motherly Hand is a tracking and organisation tool. Anything it surfaces — patterns, summaries, or AI-generated notes — is meant to give you better questions for your pediatrician, never answers in place of one. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any medical condition, and it is not a substitute for professional medical judgment, in-person care, or emergency services. If you are ever concerned about your child's health, contact a healthcare professional or emergency services directly rather than relying on anything in the app.
4. Your account
You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your login credentials confidential. Let us know right away if you suspect unauthorised access to your account. One adult is the account holder; that person can invite other adult caregivers to share a family account, and is responsible for who they invite.
5. Family sharing
Free and Plus accounts support one caregiver and one child. Family accounts support multiple caregivers and multiple children on a shared timeline. Anyone you invite to a family account can view and add entries for the children on it — only invite people you trust with that information, and remove access if that trust ever changes.
6. The content you provide
You keep ownership of the information you enter — your child's profile, care events, notes, and anything else you log. By using the service you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display that content solely to provide the service to you (for example, generating a PDF export or turning a voice entry into a log). We don't use it for anything beyond that, as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. AI & voice logging
Voice logging uses an AI processing provider to turn what you say into a draft log entry. Speech recognition and language models are not perfect — always review a draft before it saves, and correct or discard anything that looks wrong. You're responsible for the accuracy of what ultimately gets saved to your child's record, the same as with any manual entry.
8. Subscriptions & billing
Motherly Hand offers a free tier plus two paid tiers — Plus and Family — billed monthly through Lemon Squeezy, our payment processor and merchant of record. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges until you cancel. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your billing portal; changes take effect per the terms shown at checkout, and we don't lock you into a long-term contract. Except where required by law or stated otherwise at checkout, payments are non-refundable for the period already billed.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for anything unlawful, or to log information about a child you are not a parent, guardian, or authorised caregiver for.
- Attempt to access another account, or the accounts of other users, without authorisation.
- Interfere with, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service beyond what applicable law expressly permits.
- Use the service to harass, impersonate, or misrepresent yourself to another person.
10. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time — from Settings in the app, or from your account page on this site — which permanently removes your profile, your children's profiles, and every event you've logged, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms, with notice where practical.
11. No warranty
The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We work to keep the service available and accurate, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated drafts will always be correct.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Motherly Hand is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including decisions made based on information logged or generated in the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW / JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above and, for material changes, let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
